Community Development Seminars
The CD Seminars are held approximately four times a year in Brisbane. We view these seminars as an important way to foster a community of practice for CD on a range of pertinent contemporary topics, and as an adjunct to the biennial CD Conferences.
The seminars are held in partnership with CD scholars from universities in South-East Queensland.
Below are links to videos and documents associated with the seminars.

2021
21st July - 50 Years of Developmental Practice: Stories, Highlights and Reflections. We invite you to join with us for a very special seminar at Southbank, to hear from, and discuss with, Anthony Kelly and Carmel Daveson, the experience of 50 years of Community Development Practice in Queensland. Watch the video. Read Carmel's speech.
11th May Community Development (CD) Queensland hosts a virtual conversation on community development and end of life, with a focus on both the broader topic of palliative care, CD and bereavement, including a story of the work of Queensland-based Hummingbird House (a unique hospice working with children with life-limiting illness and facing end of life). This seminar will provide an opportunity to think about how the ‘community turn’ (a return of end of life concerns to community, not just professionals) and palliative care can be shaped by CD theory and practice. Come along if it’s relevant to your personal life, professional work, or if you could imagine how your community-based work might be helpful for people at end of life. Hosted by Peter Westoby, with Andrea Grindrod, Shyla Mills, Elham Day and Paul Toon. Watch the full video HERE
24th March 2021 Social Enterprise and Community Development led by Elise Parups, Richard Warner and Bernard Denny. See the Zoom recording. Elise's presentation HERE. Richard and Bernard's presentation HERE. Also, please see this list of further reading and resources here.
